Gastroenterology and Nutrition Services
The Gastrointestinal Motility program at Cook Children's is one of the first pediatric motility programs in the southern United States. Gastroenterology and Nutrition Services helps children and teenagers with inflammatory bowel disease.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) designation is the highest level that can be achieved by a NICU. It means that we have the technology and expertise to treat the sickest babies with the most difficult and complex diagnoses. We admit over 1,000 to our NICU each year, and care for babies with all types of diseases, including respiratory, surgical, cardiac, genetic, renal, neurological, hematological and metabolic conditions. We also treat preemies, newborns and infants with mild to critical congenital malformations. We care for babies as young as 22 weeks gestation and as small as one pound (16 ounces) at birth.
Cook Children's Orthopedic Services provides care for injuries and conditions affecting children's bones. Our staff are experts on the pediatric skeleton, growth and bone development. Our Orthopedics team works together with physical therapists, occupational therapists, orthotists, our SPORTS program and subspecialists in order to provide the best possible care. Cook Children's orthopedic surgeons are very experienced in spine care with more than 30 combined years specializing in pediatric orthopedics.
Behavioral Health Services
Behavioral Health addresses the psychological and psychiatric needs for children, adolescents, and their families. Cook Children's Behavioral Health Services provides inpatient and outpatient services, as well as an individualized Partial Hospitalization program and Clinical Therapist program.
Ear, Nose and Throat Center
The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Center at Cook Children's treats many conditions and collaborates with many other specialties within our system to treat and rehabilitate children with speech and hearing disorders.
Cook Children's has one of the largest pediatric Genetics Centers in the United States, providing both clinical and metabolic genetics evaluation, testing, treatment and counseling.
Cook Children's Infectious Disease team provides access to the most up-to-date therapies and leading-edge clinical research. We offer care for children and teens with diseases caused by bacteria, parasites, fungi or viruses.
Nephrology and Dialysis Services
Our Renal Transplant program is one of the few certified pediatric transplant centers in Texas. We provide care for the entire spectrum of end-stage renal disease from dialysis, transplantation of a deceased or living donor kidney and continued care and management for recipients and living donors.
Cook Children's Neuro-Oncology program is one of the largest pediatric neuro-oncology programs in the southwest. We treat children with cancer or tumors of the central nervous system and spine.
Pediatric Surgery experts at Cook Children's perform more than 3,400 procedures each year on children of all ages. Our surgeons handle a wide range of conditions including congenital malformations, head and neck masses, abdominal and gastrointestinal issues, genitourinary surgeries, thoracic issues, tumors and malignancies and urological procedures.
Pulmonary Services and Sleep Center
Pulmonary Services encompasses a Cystic Fibrosis Center, Sleep Center, Flexible Bronchoscopy program, Pulmonary Function Laboratory and General Pulmonary program.
Rheumatology helps children and adolescents with persistent arthritic and joint pain and symptoms associated with autoimmune diseases. Patients receive comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care from pediatric rheumatologists.
Cook Children's Medical Center is verified by the American College of Surgeons and designated by the Department of State Health Services as a Level II Trauma Center. The trauma services team oversees care of injured children across the continuum from pre-hospital stay to acute care in the emergency department, ICU, operating room to rehabilitation and reintegration back into their communities.
